3D Technology Checklist

This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:

A Display
First, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
A Source
Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.
3D Content
3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.
3D Glasses
For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands.
HDMI Cable
To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality.

Sharp LC-52LE835U Details

Quattron Quad Pixel Technology

Quattron LED LCD TVs feature advanced technologies enabling picture quality that has been difficult or impossible to reproduce using conventional LCD displays. When combined with Sharp's 1080p X-Gen LCD panel, the displays offer dramatic reduction in energy consumption compared with conventional CCFL LCD TVs. These technologies work in tandem to optimize picture quality and contrast ratios while reducing energy use.

Quattron LED LCD TVs employ a four-color filter, adding the color Y (yellow) to the three colors of R (red), G (green) and B (blue). Quad Pixel technology produces this groundbreaking combination expanding the color gamut and faithfully rendering nearly all colors that can be discerned while introducing never-before-seen colors to LCD TVs, like sparkling golds, Caribbean blues and sunflower yellows.

Sharp's X-Gen panel provides a wider aperture, allowing more light to pass through, which requires fewer backlighting elements to create an extremely bright image. Also, because the redesigned LCD panel has fewer ribs than traditional panels, the pixels seal more completely, enabling nearly all light to be blocked and resulting in deeper blacks.

AquoMotion 240

AquoMotion 240 Technology improves fast moving images by combining Sharp's 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced Technology with 120-backlight scanning. Fine Motion Advanced processing creates and inserts 60 unique frames a second, which smoothes out edges that occur between frames in the original footage. The backlight scanning works with the panel refresh rate to further reduce perceived motion blur and improve overall clarity and picture quality.

X-Gen Panel

Sharp's X-Gen panel provides a wider aperture allowing more light to pass through, which requires fewer backlighting elements to create an extremely bright image. Also, because the re-designed LCD panel has less ribs than traditional panels, the pixels are better sealed which enables nearly all light to be blocked resulting in darker images.

Mega Contrast

With a full LED backlight, luminance can be controlled with greater precision than with a CCFL backlight because of the differences in intensity control properties. Compared with the modulation rate of a typical CCFL backlight, the ultra-bright LED backlight is capable of modulating down to an incredible rate. Through the combined operation of Sharp's X-Gen panel, which has a high contrast ratio and Sharp's ultra-brilliant LED backlight system, AQUOS LE830 Series LCD TVs achieve an ultra-high contrast ratio that delivers unprecedented degrees of black and images that project incredible depth.

VyperDrive

VyperDrive game mode helps to eliminate the lag time between the game console and TV. When Game Mode is activated, the signal is streamlined, resulting in transmission that is five times faster than normal mode. The result is a game experience you'll never forget.

Environmental Advantages

Sharp designed AQUOS LCD TVs to require fewer resources to manufacture and less energy to consume. Sharp LCD TVs are ENERGY STAR qualified and feature low energy consumption and extended operation life. Sharp is committed to setting new standards for energy efficiency and environmental friendliness by minimizing waste and greenhouse gases in all Sharp factories. We are constantly improving conservation technologies and programs in the packaging, transportation, use, recycling and safe disposal of our products.

5.0 out of 5 stars 835 52 inch Review, June 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sharp LC52LE835U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Received this TV late last week (6/2/11). The set looks great. I ordered a 52 inch Samsung 7000 series Plasma a couple of months before this and ended up returning it. It put out a lot of heat! The Plasma also had image-retention.If you would watch ESPN for even twenty minutes and change the channel, you could see the shadow of the ESPN logo for a couple of minutes.. The Plasma also had a slight buzzing noise. BTW the Plasma was properly broken in.

After returning the Plasma I decided I did not want logo's and letterbox's (widescreen black boxes top & bottom) dictating what I watched. I knew I wanted an LED-LCD from one of the top manufactures (Samsung, Sony, LG, Sharp).

The Sony's were a little ridiculous as far as the price and did not look any better in the big-box stores than the other brands: Buy one if you really want to pay more for a Sony logo to impress your friends (I hope you do not have those type of friends, life is too short)... The Samsung... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent TV, June 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sharp LC52LE835U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Let me start off by saying this TV when I first saw it online I fell in love.
The reviews at the time all had 4-5 star, no complaints ect. I first saw it at $1450ish on Amazon and figured for a 52" 3D LED TV that sounds like a steal.

I have a 32" Sharp TV in my bedroom thats older and love it, grant it 5 years old, still is a great LCD.

Anyway a few things on this TV I want to point out as some reivews don't mention this or understand it.
This TV while it is LED it is Edgelit LED which means it will have some very minor bleed, but this is what allows it to be soo thin, and boy is it small! GREAT for wall hanging!

Let me go into some details on this.

The edges of the screen on dark images look perfect, no issues, on bright images you see the far left and right side have a very minor bit of more brightness to them, and no one noticed until I pointed it out even. (I am just very detailed so I see everything)... Read more

This review is from: Sharp LC52LE835U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
bought from modia thru amazon. delivery was quick and without any trouble. tv is nice and thin and very light weight. picture right out of the box was ok and with a little tweaking it is absolutely stunning. watched some basketball and game of thrones and was blown away.

tv is hooked up to standard cable box(hdmi), dvd player(hdmi), wii(component)

after a quick firmware update via ethernet cable i tested all of the online services and everything worked as advertised. i love the dlna feature which works great with windows media player and connects to my libraries on my pc. was able to watch movies, play songs or look at pictures.

sound is not bad for a tv but of course you should connect it to a surround system

haven't even tested wifi or 3d yet. will update as soon as i get a sec to test.

conclusion: i upgraded from 32" without changing viewing distance. i feel like i am only now really enjoying hdtv... Read more
